Before you run out and invest into one more expensive piece of
gym equipment or plunk down another chunk of money on some fad
diet, you should know that there are simple things you can do
right now, that can help you lose weight and keep it off.

 1.) Ditch the meat. Go vegetarian. While some dieters have
claimed short term weight-loss with low-carb diets, there are
few studies that support their long term success. Most meats are
still high in saturated fat, which is detrimental to the heart.

A better strategy would be to limit bread products or those that
contain lots of refined white flour (bread, cake, cookies,
snacks, etc.).

Vegetables, fruits and legumes are always lower in calories, and
practically fat free. That means you could eat bushels of apples
and oranges without adding too many pounds.

2.) Get off the couch: Hate exercise? Who doesn't! Most are
boring and over-stress parts of the body leading to muscle
soreness. Instead, find an out-door hobby or sport that requires
intense physical exertion, i.e. bike riding, soccer, basketball,
hiking, tennis, etc. These sports burn thousands more calories
than a trip to the gym, while working a full range of muscles.

3.) Are you a snacker? Junk foods, chips, cookies and high carb
treats will never have a realistic place in any serious dieters
weight loss efforts.

Make peace with the fact that you can't really lose weight while
eating these types of foods.

Find new fruit favorites that will satisfy your sweet tooth,
while nourishing your body with essential nutrients that it
craves.

4.) Control your cravings: Even the best diet can fail, if
you're always hungry. Sure you lose a lot of weight initially,
but then self survival kicks in and you find yourself arm deep
in a bag of potato chips. The brain has a funny way of making
sure that the body survives.

And, if that means, over-indulgence, then so be it. Most diets
rely on skipping meals and calorie reduction which can
ultimately lower your metabolism making it easier for you to
regain the weight when you begin eating normally.

You can trick your brain into helping you lose weight by eating
five to seven small meals daily. Forgo the super size portions
and think two or three bites. Eat something hourly if necessary.
The constant stream of fresh foods into your stomach will kick
your metabolism (calorie burning) into high gear, while keeping
your blood sugar level stable so that you have fewer food
cravings.

Losing weight isn't rocket science and you don't need a lot of
expensive equipment to make it happen. Just make common sense
choices that are right for your body and lifestyle and you will
see results!
